Jini is a registered Psychologist working for My Disability Practitioners on a contractor basis. Jini completed her Post Graduate qualifications in Applied Psychology (counselling and psychotherapy) in 2007. Jini furthered her studies in the United Kingdom (UK) by completing a Masters in Forensic Psychology. Jini began her career in psychology in 2007 and since then she has worked, both internationally and nationally, in the diverse field of health services, of which disability has been a huge part. With almost a decade of experience in the field of psychology, Jini has developed extensive psychotherapeutic skills including behaviour therapy.Jini places a lot of emphasis on evidence-based therapies and utilising relevant skills and experience to deliver positive outcomes in her work. Trauma therapy has been a significant part of Jini’s diverse work profile. Jini uses trauma informed strategies to assist teaching people how to regulate their emotions and to deal with the ongoing cognitive and psychological impacts of trauma in their life. Jini is especially passionate about supporting people with disability that have trauma experiences. Jini has a core belief in humanistic psychology. This means that Jini looks holistically at each individual and looks for the innate goodness, skills and abilities that make a person unique. This philosophy motivates Jini’s strength-based approach to building independence in her clients.
